Early this morning, the House of Representatives narrowly passed a budget proposal (#217-215). If enacted, this budget will make severe cuts to our nation's most
vital anti-poverty programs like food stamps, Medicaid, aid for families with disable children, aid for families who have adopted, aid for BLIND PEOPLE, and child care. These are not small cuts over 300,000 people will be dropped from food aid. Over 100,000 of these are children (how's that for pro-life!) In the next week this budget (poperly named the immoral budget..I kid you not...that is the name of it as it is reffered to in congress)

Please contact your represenatives and senetors to let them know how horrible this proposal is. All this is happening as congress has approved an extenstion on another year of tax cuts for the highest three percentage of income americians. Why is poverty and helping the poor such a hard thing for those in power to see and do something about.

A little news has come up this week. Doesn't seem like a big deal..but I think a few people will see it as note worthy.

This week Douglas Holtz-Eakin who is the head of Congressional Budget Office announced he's leaving at year's end. "Wait, wait, wait, wait", I know many may be saying this to themselves right now as well as saying "what the hell is that job anyway".

Well congress has many departments to it. And the budget office examine the budget plans and estimate what will happen in the future because of them. They are economist who come up with the projections of the future based on our past. This office is a non political office, there job is to look past the politics of the budget and analize. Well for those that watch c-span at night and read the papers a lot know that Douglas Holtz-Eakin has not necessarly been a supporter of much of what the bush congress has put into place, even though he was hired by the republicans in majority. On the tax cuts he spoke up saying that it favored the richest 3% of the US, and has remarked against the bush congress on it's social security plans, trickle down tax cuts, cuts of state budgets etc etc.

So in a way this notice of Douglas Holtz-Eakin quitting is something to be noted.

How do you know if someone is lying? There are many ways, there is body language, pupils dialating and there is going on the track record. That is why information is so valueable, because we can determin what is true and not through the availablity of information.

Currently one of the biggest battles in the political ring we see is on torture and wether the US is doing it. You have this caged match right now going on between Cheaney, Bush and Mcain. It's an all out brawl. Bush says the US doesn't torture, Cheany says the same but is trying to get the CIA full rights to do so, and the you have sen. Mcain ( a former vietnam POW) trying to get the US to adapt a no torture bill in congress.

So how do we know who is telling the truth is just the Bush vs Cheany battle? Because lets face it one says one thing and the other does something diffrent. So we have to look at the track record. Well there is much information on the information we know of from Guatomano (sp) and the know discovered secrect prisions the US is unsing in other countries. I want to focus on one didbit of information....

When the war in Iraq began a promise was made, no napalm would be used. Because as we learned in Vietnam the kill all approach of Napalm kills the innocent more than any kind of fighting assialants. Well in the past few weeks numbers US troops have come out claiming that they were ordered to use white phosphorus which is a chemical weapon, and is a form of Napalm. WHat it does is melt the skin off the body. The troops coming out speaking said they were ordered to use them in the battle in Falluja, which is considered to be where the insurgence began to grow to what it is now.

Many innocent people where killed in Falluja. A recent TV special from italy can be seen here on this issue. Please be aware that the imagery is graphic, as war is.

If you would like some digital reading you can go here:

Now to get back to the past question...if the innocent are killed with no regard I wonder what possible prisoners are treated like?

---------

side note: This is not an attcak on the US troops. They are following orders, but the leaders who make those orders they need to be brought into the light. No blame can be put on troops. That's like hating the mother working in a sweatshop because it's a sweatshop. The deal makers are the ones needing to be brought to justice.
